SGEM-ELLTA(S)
Storytelling Competition
April 2001
The "Speak Good English Movement" (SGEM) was launched in April 2000 by Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong as a drive to encourage Singaporeans to speak good English. The slogan is "Speak Well. Be understood". In 2001, as part of the SGEM Official Launch and Festival 2001, SGEM and ELLTA(S) jointly organised a Storytelling Competition for primary and secondary school students. The competition was part of the efforts of SGEM and ELLTA(S) to bring the "Speak Good English" message to school students.
The semi-finals of the competition was held on 6 April 2001 and 9 April 2001. The finals took place on 14 April 2001.
