AGM Address (2001)
by Oliver Seet
President, ELLTA(S)
Dear ELLTA(S) members
How swiftly the first operational year of ELLTA(S) has passed! It draws to a close at the end of this month and, constitutionally, the first Annual General Meeting must be held on 28th July 2001. In order to make this important event more attractive and palatable for you, an Appreciation High Tea and a special talk on Singapore English by Dr Low Ee Ling (please refer to the attached flyer) will be held after the general election of office bearers. As this will be our very first AGM, I hope that you will be able to vote in a new executive committee attend the meeting. Halal refreshments will be served and each member will be presented with an attractive door gift. Please send your reply using the nomination form attached or alternatively, call Noor Suzanne at 790-3455 or email: nsnasir@nie.edu.sg to confirm your attendance by 23 July 2001.
Among the items on the programme for the year 2001 is the Poetry Writing Competition and a bi-annual publication, which will include teaching tips for our members.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all ELLTA(S) pro-tem committee members, partnering organisations of ELLTA(S), corporate member schools, ELLTA(S) members and friends, for the support you have given us over the past year. It has been a very challenging year but ELLTA (S) has evolved into a vibrant organisation because of your support.
We look forward to another successful year ahead!
Yours sincerely,
A/P Oliver Seet
