Dear Fellow ELLTA(S) Members,

Just a short note to keep you abreast of what's been happening.

SGEM Storytelling Competition

Our collaboration with the Ministry of Information and the Arts for the SGEM Storytelling Competition in April was a success. The judges had a difficult time trying to decide the best student since all the competitors were very good. We would like to thank all ELLTA(S) judges and participating schools. We look forward to future collaboration with MITA.

NLB-ELLTA(S) Workshops

On another note, the workshops jointly organised by the National Library Board and ELLTA(S) will be running from May to November 2001 at the new Woodlands Regional Library, 900 South Woodlands Drive, #01-03, Woodlands Civics Centre. Conducted by ELLTA(S) volunteers, the topics will range from Poetry, Reading Comprehension and Literature. All workshops will begin at 7.00 p.m. at the Basement 1. For more information, please call the Library at 767 3902. So make a date with us and come down to the new Woodlands Regional Library which offers one of the newest and largest collection of books for you to enjoy.

Young Budding Writers' Award 2001

We are also working together with Times Media for the Young Budding Writers' Award 2001. Times Media will be contacting all schools regarding the above competition. Winners of the competition will become published authors receiving 15% of all sales. They will be taken through the publishing process from start to finish and will take part in a camp for promising writers at the end of the year. They will also receive a Caran d'Ache pen and a certificate. The best young illustrators will receive a presentation case of art equipment.
